Fundraiser

Luau is a long standing tradition here at Silver Strand Elementary. It is our biggest fundraiser event the PTO hosts. The PTO pivoted in 2022 to welcome back families and community members to our campus after Covid restrictions were lifted. In true Luau fashion, we have dinner, games and fun. We asked our families, teachers/staff and community to coordinate carnival type games for our goers to enjoy, in addition to the live DJ, SSES student performances and other activities. Admission is free.

We raise money in three ways: food and merchandise sales, silent auction and raffles. All proceeds go back to Silver Strand Elementary, for enrichment clubs, field trips, curriculum, family fun nights and MORE!

Our dinner is fee based and we ask people who want to eat at the event to preregister for food, however, drinks and desserts are sold at the event. Silver Strand merchandise is also available for sale.

Auction items are gathered through donations from businesses in and around Coronado. Also, a parent/guardian of a SSES student, known as the Classroom Basket Coordinator, collects monetary donations from other classroom parents/guardians for a large, adult basket that is auctioned off, as well. People in the community at large and our school families are able to view/bid on items online as well as see items in person on the day of the Luau event.

Raffle tickets are sold for small baskets that are geared toward student interest. These basket items are also purchased with monetary donations collected by the Classroom Basket Coordinator. Other raffle tickets can be purchased for items that have been donated by generous businesses.
